Tabbassum | Ajrakh Silk Velvet Saree Inspired by Mughal Muqarnas

Ajrakh has always drawn on two sources: nature, and Mughal architecture. Tabbassum leans into the later one with its print. It is directly inspired by muqarnas, the honeycomb-like, geometrically stacked ornamentation found on Mughal domes and archways, translated here into a four-colour Ajrakh print on silk velvet. It's a busier, more architectural take on Ajrakh than the collection's floral pieces, with the extra colours adding a visible depth other single-tone prints don't have.
Like every saree in this collection, Tabbassum is woven with mulberry silk thread, keeping the drape light despite the density of the print.
One of our customers, Deepika C., wrote after wearing the saree at Expo 2020 Dubai: "Most beautiful ajrakh ever in my opinion this one is! This high quality velvet adds to the beauty multifolds. I spent entire day touring World's biggest event ExpoDubai2020 in two of Sundarii Handmade Velvet sarees, enjoyed sooo much!! These sarees wraps around you like a hug!!"
